Two new shapes!!

Woot.. I’ve churned out a couple new shapes the last couple weeks. I think that I’ve been using it as an outlet for escaping some of the stresses of the club. Gah..who knew running a club would be so full on. Anyway!!  Shapes!!!

I so am kicking myself I didn’t name this one Sandy, as she reminds me so much of her, from Grease.. but meh.. I didn’t think of it, and um.. I’m lazy. So.. here she is.. Nicole

Then.. my new country girl shape, Joplin. Glenn and I loved that fruity barn and hay field. I am going to put that back up so we can take more pictures of it all. Ahhh…all when I get a bit more time.

Content Theft of sorts…

I’ve been very busy lately, and my store has kinda taken a back seat to the club. The club has been Glenn and I’s labor of love, for the most part..although at times, we do ask ourselves why we asked for this. Today is one of those days.

A friend of mine today asked to go shopping. I haven’t snuck out for a while, so I agreed. The first store we went to, was VERY familiar. A little too familiar. It was the same building as our club.. which is readily available. I can’t stop anyone else from buying that building and using it. However, the closer I looked at this place, the more I noticed…they had BLATANTLY been very busy in our club, inspecting and furnishing the building with the EXACT same furnishings. Even when he could have chosen items that would have been very similar to things found in our club… he still went ahead and furnished the joint with the EXACT ones found in our place. Nice. I wish there was some sort of protection that LL offered for this sort of thing, but alas I’m quite sure there isn’t.

Sad thing is…this ass did this right in front of me. I seen him inspecting everything in our club, and I asked him about it. See below conversation

Finally!! A new shape!

Well, ever since Glenn and I opened The Foundry, I have been busy with all the duties associated with a club. No excuse, I know. But…I have made up my mind, it is time to start working on my shapes once again. So, here it is.

Art of the flesh…

I know it’s been blogged about on a few other blogs by now, but I went and bought a new Trap skin today.. well um..I bought two. I couldn’t decide. Typical Madi fashion. lol Let me just say, they are gorgeous. They are 1500L. A little more than some skins, but I have seen plenty in that price range lately, that do not have the obvious work that this one has put in. AND…if that wasn’t enough, you get TWO skins for that price! TWO. Scroll down, with your eyes closed, if you are sensitive to a little ass flashery.

The only thing I would say, about the skin from Trap, is..I wish there was a demo available. It was hard to choose the skin tone I wanted, without one. Even if it was just a skin tone demo. Other than that..no complaints. They’re gorgeous..and I hope they make more of these types of skin in future.

Fun outfit

I found these cute little bibs shorts from INDI Designs at the Relay For Life. Indi has some amazing stuff. I wish that they would come out with a few more just casual, day to day stuff. They are a bit more expensive for the outfits, but they always have multiple outfit options. It’s really well made stuff, so I will occasionally go on a INDI spree. lol The outfit comes with a couple different shirt options, but I went with one I a different one, that made it a little bit ’softer’. This outfit also comes with the belt and a messenger bag (which, didn’t go with the shirt I chose)

I also bought this new skin from Yourskin. I love it. I will certainly be shopping there more often. The makeups are very subtle and natural. The body looks great too! Monicuzza does a great job, and is very sweet, too!

an open letter..

Dear Anonymous Mall owner,

I hope my choice in music station does not make you develop a tic, when you visit my store, as your choice in “Slow Radio”, has done me.

Oh, and another thing.. take out those damn big windows that look like doors. I feel like a complete tit when I walk into them. Unless, of course, that is your objective..for your own amusement. If that’s the case, keep up the good work.

Advertising in SL

So, I’m coming up on my 3rd year anniversary in SL. In that time, I’ve never had a business. I have hosted at clubs, and I’ve also been a dj, but I’ve never had a store. Until now. In that three years, I’ve made some mistakes, and I still amaze myself that I learn new things on sl, that seem pretty common, but somehow, in three years, I’ve missed. lol

I opened a couple stores now, called Bodyrock Shapes, featuring prefab bodies. *snort* Well, the latest thing to perplex me, is advertising on SL. Now, I’ll admit, being a novice in the whole commerce area of SL, I started out, with a fizzle. I was pretty damn proud of myself when I published my first classified EVER. I paid my 1000L, thinking..’that should be enough to get a decent placement’. Ha. That was until I actually checked the classified section. If you look under the classified section, under the word ‘Shapes’, you will find the first ad has paid $550,000L, for it’s coveted position. Dude..wtf. That is exactly $2,112.23 US Dollars, converted by the current rate!! Granted this place also sells skins and hair, but this is for ONE WEEK of advertising! Is this place selling that many goods to cover that kind of advertising AND tier? Have I just been naive this whole time? *shrugs* Maybe I have. Maybe I’m in the wrong damn SL business. lol

Sooo.. my ad is prominently lost in the shuffle somewhere around page 5,000 of the classifieds. Great! Not that getting started wasn’t expensive, or anything. (note..sarcasm there) It is my understanding that ranking is based on three things. Your ability to mortgage your RL home to place a pricey ad, profile picks, and traffic. Yet, ironically..each is almost reliant on the other. So, I did the unthinkable. I bought a couple camping chairs. “Three levels of increasing your ranking”, the advertisement boasted. It had an anti-bot system, group only feature, as well as a profile pick requirement. Excellent, I thought. Oh, I’ve been anti-camping in the past, but suddenly, it seemed ok, after I nearly had a coronary upon seeing how much one of the ‘big guys’ paid for their ad.

Put said camping chairs out in the store last night. I awoke to two campers (I only put two chairs out..didn’t want to go FURTHER into the proverbial hole) at my store. Ah…sweet success is on the way! I sent each one of them a good morning message. No need to be unfriendly, right? No response. From either one. Hmmm.. maybe they went to get breakfast. Or perhaps a potty break. I wait. Nothing. For a half hour, I waited…and zero. Not a peep. I thought..hmmm..I’ll unsit them, then wait to see how long it is until they notice they aren’t actually sucking the lifeblood from me, any longer. FORTY FIVE MINUTES later..they both leave.. at the same time. Huzzah! I’ve been had. This said camping system has an antibot protection feature, it says. Apparently, someone has figured a way around it.

Back to square one. Minus the campers. Struggling to shove my pixelated goods in the faces of the public, without taking my children’s inheritance to do it. If you have any good ideas..please, let me know. I’m at a loss here.

SL rant for the day…

I’m not a big lucky chair person. Quite the opposite. Of course, if something is fantastic, and my letter pops up while I’m in the store, I’m no fool..I’ll hop right on that. Anyway..I digress. One thing I find annoying though..is stores that have lucky chairs, loaded with items they don’t even sell. The number of places I’ve seen pawning off big screen tvs, when their store has nothing remotely similar to that item, is shocking. It’s my understanding that the lucky chair is a promotion tool. Yes, people stand around and wait for their letter to come up, but how does that hurt? Kinda the whole purpose of them, no? *shrugs* Don’t give away stuff you don’t find fit to sell yourself. If you’re not gonna give away somethin’ decent, I think you do more damage to yourself, by giving away items no one really wants. Just my rant for the day.
